»Antisemitismus und andere Feindseligkeiten«
Vortrag in englischer Sprache.

This lecture provides an overview of variant forms of anti-semitism in contemporary France. In particular it will focus on anti-semitism as component part of Islamist discourse. It will consider the historical background for this phenomenon, but tracing carefully how anti-semitism plays an active role in radicalization – either in the banlieue, in French prisons or North Africa.

Andrew Hussey is an English cultural historian and biographer. He was educated at the University of Manchester and the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. He received his PhD for a thesis on Georges Bataille and lectured in French at the University of Huddersfield as well as at the University of Wales Aberystwyth. Since 2006 he has been the dean of the University of London Institute in Paris. In 2014 he was appointed Director of the Centre for Post-Colonial Studies at the University of London's School of Advanced Study. He began his career as a journalist in the early 1990s. He now regularly contributes to The Observer, New Statesman, Granta and Literary Review. In 2014 his book The French Intifada. The long war between France and its Arabs was published with Granta Publishers.
