Percy Herrmann M.A.

Doctoral candidate, Friedrich Ebert Foundation doctoral scholarship

Percy Herrmann is a doctoral student at the Chair for Research on the History and Impact of the Holocaust of Prof. Dr. Steinbacher since November 2023. He is conducting research on the punishment of violent National Socialist crimes. In his project, he is particularly concerned with the investigation and judicial punishment of war crimes. The focus is on the US War Crimes Group as the central investigative unit of the US Army.

Percy Herrmann studied history, ethnology and archaeology of the Near East at the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main. His master's thesis on the perception and self-perception of SS Judge Konrad Morgen was awarded the Prize of the sponsoring association of the Fritz Bauer Institute for student theses. From 2020 to October 2022 he completed an scientific research traineeship at the concentration camp memorial in Dachau. In terms of content, he was involved in the conception of the special exhibition »Dachau Trials. Crimes, Proceedings, Responsibility«. He is a research associate at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site since November 2022. From November 2023 to June 2024 he held the Jürg Breuninger doctoral scholarship from the Fritz Bauer Institute. Since July 2024 he has been supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s doctoral Scholarship.
