Nils Weigt is working on a dissertation project on the relocation of SS and Gestapo offices to Brandenburg (1943–1945). He studied political science, history and Eastern European cultural studies at the Technical University of Dresden, the University of Potsdam and the University of Warsaw. After graduating, he worked as an educator for the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation and others.
He has been holder of the C. and N. Weickart Fellowship made possible by Christiane and Nicolaus Weickart and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Fritz Bauer Institute in 2022. From December 2022 to May 2026, he held a doctoral scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation, and since June 2026 he has held a Jürg Breuninger doctoral scholarship from the Fritz Bauer Institute.
