Torben Schneider is a doctoral student at the Chair for Research on the History and Impact of the Holocaust, held by Prof. Dr. Sybille Steinbacher. Since July 2026 he has held a Finkelstein Foundation doctoral scholarship at the Fritz Bauer Institute. His doctoral project focuses on how the history of I.G. Farben has been dealt with in West Germany since the end of the Nazi era. In this work, he examines the activities of the I.G. Farben in liquidation between 1945 and 2003 in terms of the politics of history, and in legal and financial matters.
Torben Schneider studied History and Political Science at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. His master's thesis focused on the history of the Koblenz Office of the Attorney General from 1946 to 1952. From May 2023 to June 2026 Torben Schneider worked first as a research assistant and subsequently as an editorial assistant in the editorial department of the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt am Main
