Dmytro Tytarenko is a visiting scholar at the Fritz Bauer Institute. He is working on a research project entitled »The Destruction of Patients in the Psychiatric Hospital of Poltawa during the German Occupation (1941–1944). Crimes, Investigations, Commemoration.« He studied history at the Donetsk State University, earned his Ph.D. in 2002 with the thesis »The Periodical Press of the Eastern Ukraine during the Nazi Occupation as a Historical Source, 1941–1943« at the Dnipropetrovsk National University, and defended his postdoctoral thesis »The Cultural Life in Ukraine during the Nazi Occupation (the Territories under Military Administration)« at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Lviv in 2014. From 1995 to 2000, he worked as a research assistant in Donetsk Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy; from 2002 to 2006 he taught political science and Ukrainian history at Donetsk University of Economy and Law. From 2006 he worked as a lecturer at Donetsk Institute of Law. Since 2015 Dmytro Tytarenko has been a professor of political science and Ukrainian history at Donetsk Institute of Law (Krywyj Rih).
